Walter Dee Dewitt Obituary Walter Dee Dewitt, age 76 of Overland Park, Kansas joined our father on December 12, 2008. Walter was born October 15, 1932 to Elmer and Icy (Croy) Dewitt in Hominy, Oklahoma. He served as a PFC in the Korean War. After his return from the war he graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Walter began his career working for DX Sun Oil Company where he was transferred to Overland Park, Kansas in 1967. He later opened and operated his own company, MVP Vending. He enjoyed his affiliation as a Board Member of the OU Alumni Association for the Greater Kansas City Chapter. Walter is survived by two sons- Mark Dewitt and wife Alyce of Grandbury, Texas; Jay Dewitt and wife Diana of Pacific Grove, California; two daughters- Kara Barbieri and husband Bill of Olathe, Kansas and Terri Dunmire and husband David of Overland Park, Kansas; Five grandchildren- Brian and Megan Dunmire, Alex and Reed Barbieri, and Jordan Dewitt; one brother- Joie Ray Dewitt and wife Betty; one niece- Janine Stuart and husband Larry; two nephews- Perry Dewitt and wife Therese and Craig Dewitt and wife Lisa. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother- H.C. Dewitt. Visitation will be on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, 223 North Wood Ave. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 202 South Wood Ave., Hominy, Oklahoma with Pastor Lee Nirscil officiating. Organist/Pianist Joel Jackson and vocalist Larry Stuart singing music selections The Lords Prayer and Nearer My God to Thee. Pall Bearers will be Brian Dunmire, Reed Barbieri, Craig Dewitt, Alexander Barbieri, Perry Dewitt and Larry Stuart. Graveside Service will follow at the A.J. Powell Cemetery. Arrangements were make with Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma.
