Thurman “Hokie” Ray Kitchen was born on August 5, 1943 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Wayne Ray Kitchen and Betty Elizabeth Jump Kitchen. He passed from this life on Friday, July 19,2013 at his home in Pawnee, Oklahoma having reached the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 14 days. He married Gladys Porter on February 13, 1970 in Pawnee, Oklahoma and they were affiliated with the Pawnee First United Methodist Church. He served in the Armed Forces of the United States; Army National Guard; Army Air Defense Center, and received the Oklahoma Commendation Medal, and several honors from the Pawnee Police Department and Pawnee Fire and Rescues. He was a member of the Masons, NRA, VFW, DHO, USH, and was a lifetime member of the DAV. Thurman is survived by: Wife:Gladys Kitchen, Pawnee, Oklahoma Daughters:Susan Lady and her husband, Ray, Ralston, Oklahoma Quilla Cameron and her husband, Gary, Idaho City, Idaho Diana Karcher and her husband, Keith, Perry, Oklahoma Son:Stephen Kitchen, Texas Grandchildren:Whitney DeHaas and her husband, Brian, Perry, Oklahoma Otis Ryan and his wife, Anita, Lela, Oklahoma Rayan Russell and her husband, Mike, Stillwater, Oklahoma Kristin Randolph and her husband Steven, Dawson Springs, Kentucky Kevin Greenfield, Kansas Kayla Greenfield, Kansas Great Grandchildren:Mason DeHaas, Perry, Oklahoma Erica, Vanessa, and Trinity Randolph, Kentucky Arianna and Chris Russell, Stillwater, Oklahoma Chris, DeWayne and Rachel Ryan, Lela, Oklahoma Candis, Kaylee, Pawnee, Oklahoma, and Kegan Ryan, Yukon, Oklahoma \ Sisters:Carol Lyons and her husband, Gary, Pawnee, Oklahoma Peggy Long and her husband, Howard, Council Hill, Oklahoma Lora Taylor and her husband, Bub, Tonitown, Arkansas Plus a number of other relatives, and many friends. Thurman was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Betty Kitchen; brother, Tommy Kitchen; and grandsons, Fredrick Ryan and Daniel Ryan. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Skedee Cemetery, Skedee, Oklahoma with Rev. Susan Ross officiating, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
