Sylvia Adrienne Taylor

Sylvia Adrienne Taylor, age 93, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Franciscan Villa. Sylvia was born on October 2, 1932, in Fairfax, Oklahoma, the daughter of Royce Daniel and Edna Jeanette (Bailey) Reamy. She was the third of nine children and was raised on the family farm near Blackburn in Osage County. Sylvia graduated from Blackburn High School in 1951.

On June 10, 1951, she married Robert Olen “Speed” Taylor at Enterprise in Osage County, Oklahoma. The two shared 39 happy years of marriage until Speed’s passing in July 1990.Throughout their life together, Sylvia and Speed made homes in many places, following work opportunities and new adventures. From the Chapman Barnard Ranch in Osage County—where Sylvia worked as a cook, and Speed worked as a ranch hand both before and after serving in the Korean War—to Ponca City, where they owned and operated a gas station for more than a decade, and later to Collinsville and Hominy during Speed’s years in the oil industry, Sylvia created a warm and beautiful home wherever they lived. In 1977, they purchased a home in Hominy, which remained Sylvia’s residence until October 2023, when she moved to Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow. While living in Hominy, Sylvia worked for many years at Jean’s Flower Shop. She had a special gift for floral design and took great joy in bringing beauty and happiness to others through flowers and crafts. In her earlier years, she loved playing basketball, bowled competitively, and never missed an opportunity to go fishing—or to visit the casino. Sylvia cherished time with friends and family, enjoying card games and dominos, and she was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder. She also enjoyed sharing her Christian faith and worshiping the Lord with fellow believers by attending services and bible studies regularly. Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Speed; her parents; and all eight of her siblings—four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Devonna Smith of Owasso, Oklahoma, along with several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Sylvia gave selflessly and was always the first to show up for family and friends when it mattered most. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Powell Funeral Service in Hominy, with Celebrant Dusty Giles officiating. Burial will follow at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Powell Funeral Service in Hominy. www.powellfuneralservice.com
