Sammy Lu Harris, 73, lifelong resident of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away Monday Evening, March 4, 2024, in her home.

Sammy Harris (Dee) was born on September 27, 1950, in Hominy, Oklahoma to Sam Dee and Emma Louise Dee. She grew up with one brother, Grady Dee. All her school years were spent here in Hominy, and she graduated in 1968 from Hominy High School. Sammy went on to cosmetology school. She worked for Munsingwear in her early adult years.

She met a young man who worked for her dad in the oilfield, and she fell in love. On June 17, 1980, Sammy married Charles Harris. Her life was all about taking care of her family and her home. She did substitute teaching for Hominy and Prue but mainly was a homemaker. Sammy and Charles had four children: two boys and two girls. She loved being a mom, making sure all their needs were met.

Sammy enjoyed sewing and ironing, she always had a beautiful flower garden. Deer hunting and croppie fishing were always pleasures to her. Sammy loved her dog, Stetson. Besides her dog, she had goats and chickens. She loved to just watch the chickens and argue with the goats. If anyone said, “let go out to eat,” she was the first one ready. She enjoyed cooking but her biscuits and gravy were just amazing. She loved watching rodeos, street outlaws, and swamp people.

Sammy’s great part of life were her grandkids. She loved everything that the grands were doing. She went to every sporting event she could. She loved those grands and great grands so much it might seem she liked them more that her own kids.
