Pauline Jennie Lee Catherine Benz Jones Miller Allred of rural Pawhuska passed from this life on Sunday evening, October 19, 2025, at her residence. She was 94 years of age. Pauline was born November 29, 1930, at Pawhuska to Jess and Anna B (Gray) Jones, and the eldest female grandchild of Jenny (Garfield) Gray and Clarence Gray. She was raised in the Pawhuska area, graduating high school in Nelagoney. Pauline attended Northeastern State at Tahlequah where she received her bachelor's degree.
Pauline was an accomplished finger weaver, roach maker and seamstress of Osage clothing. She worked for Title VI for 13 years, owned a ceramic store for 20 years, was a teacher at Pawhuska High School in the fine arts department for 7 years, and served on the Indian Camp school board for 3 years. Her last job was as a Historian for the Osage Museum. Pauline was a member of both the Osage and Ponca Tribes and was a member of both the Native American Church and the Osage Baptist Church.
Those that survive are her three sons - George, Ben and Tony; she was preceded in death by a daughter Julia. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, with another on the way and one great great grandchild.
Traditional Indian services will begin at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Wakon Iron Chapel, Pawhuska with George Stabler speaking. Also speaking will be Scott Kohnle of the Osage Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Pawhuska Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the care of the Powell Funeral Home of Hominy.
