Mary Frances (Hopper) Hayes Obituary Mary Frances (Hopper) Hayes, age 61 of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at her residence. Mary was born February 29, 1952 to John Henry and Delphine (Harragarra) Hopper, Sr.; at Pawnee, Oklahoma. Mary attended school at Hominy Public Schools and 2 years at NOC, at Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Mary worked in the medical field, working as a nurse in Ponca City Hospital and Hominy Hospital, Hominy, Oklahoma. Mary Frances had a huge heart and enjoyed having fun with her family and friends. She loved playing pool, listening to Elvis sing and singing karaoke with her friends. She looked forward to the Osage Dances each June. She served as Osage Tribal Princess in 1971. Mary was a member of the Hominy Friends Church. Mary fought a long, hard battle with dignity and grace. Not a day went by that she didn't laugh and make those around her laugh and feel good about themselves. Mary was truly an inspiration to her family and friends about the true meaning of courage, hope and unconditional love. Mary is survived by her two daughters: Tonda Ivy of Willard, Missouri and Amy Brumfield of Hominy, Oklahoma; one son: Christopher Ryan Ostander of Hominy, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; mother: Delphine Hopper; two sisters: Martha Elliott of Hominy, Oklahoma and Jan Gaebler and husband Carl of Owasso, Oklahoma; one brother: Danny Hopper of Hominy, Oklahoma; nieces: Sara Hensley and Tia Jefferson; other nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father: John Henry Hopper Sr., brother: John Henry Hopper Jr., and husband: Delbert Ostrander. Visitation was in the home of Sara and Kent Hensley, 917 South Wood, Hominy. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hominy Friends Church, with Rev. David Nagle officiating. Music selections were: "Always On My Mind", sung by Elvis, "I Won't Let Go", sung by Rascal Flatts and "Amazing Grace" sung by El Divo. Pall Bearers were Kent Hensley, Joe Cobb, Carl Gaebler, Dennis Jefferson, Channing Tardiff, Skyler Hensley and Honorary pall bearer Danny Hopper. Interment was in the A.J. Powell Cemetery with Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma making the arrangements. www.powellfuneralservice.com.
