Mary Louise Carter, age 88, of Hominy, passed from this life on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa. Mary was born February 15, 1938, at Olive, OK to Andy and Beulah (Hendricks) Johnson. She was raised and received her education in a variety of places, as her father traveled working various oil fields. On February 15, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to Raymond Dean Carter in Hominy, OK, where they established their home. She worked alongside her husband operating their filling station. Following the sale of the business, Mary started her career with 1st Bank of Hominy, a position she held for 23 years. Mary loved spending time with family, as she and Raymond organized the annual Carter reunion for 30 years. She enjoyed bowling and at one time was President of the ESA chapter in Hominy.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include her husband of 70 years - Raymond; their children - Bonnie Finch of Hominy, Belinda Shores of Tulsa and Leslie Carter of Sperry. Also surviving is a brother Sammy Johnson of Jennings, OK, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, along with other relatives and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her patents, a grandson David and siblings - Martha, Margie, Betty Jane, Andy Jr., and Bob.
There will be a time of visitation for Mary on Friday, March 13th from 2 - 7pm at the Powell Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 am at the AJ Powell Memorial Cemetery Pavilion with Andy Kennedy officiating. Special music will be "The Old Rugged Cross", Beulah Land and Grandma's Song.
