Martha Elizabeth Lookout

Martha Elizabeth Lookout, longtime resident of Pawhuska, passed from this life on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her home. Martha was born on June 13, 1958, in Pawhuska to Randolph (Smokey) and Sophia LaRue (Hamilton) Lookout. She was raised and received her education in Hominy. Martha worked in the home health industry as an aide for several years. A person of faith, Martha was a member of the Native American Church and of Baptist affiliation. Memories by the family: The relationship was special because she was able to look past problems, disagreements and realize that family can only be kept together through prayer and faith in Jesus Christ. Mom always made sure that we knew the only way to God was through his son Jesus and our traditional ways and through scripture. Other memories are seeing her listening and laughing with her sisters; watching "NCIS", "The Robe", "The Ten Commandments" and her favorite pastor - Joyce Meyer Ministries. She really enjoyed being around her friends, having smokes, and Diet Cokes always made her happy. Talking about NCAA football wins in our southern area of football. Music - loved listening to Journey; she once talked about her and Aunt Sophie going to a Journey concert and Sophie taking by the arm and burrowing through the crowd to get up close to Steve Perry; Henry said "little did he know the birth of "The Mosh pit" had been created. Henry also said a special memory was when he, his sister and Mom would laugh together about different embarrassing moments they had experienced. They loved barbeque in Pawhuska and Mom would call Bad Brad's - Bad Bradys at times and they would all laugh - Even today the memories bring happiness to us. Also hearing the aunts and uncles creating joyous laughter that echoes through me, my sister and cousins that without a doubt helps us through tough times.

Martha is survived by her children - Henry Lookout and Elizabeth Sloan; her siblings Mildred Louise High, Ira Ed Lookout, Vivian Larue Oliver, William Henry Lookout, Debra Doreen Lookout; and grandchildren- Jarrett Finley Sloan, Jayden Elizabeth Sloan, Jestin Donald Sloan, Seth Henry Lookout, Jacey Elaine Lookout, Brandon Pratt, Jade Randolph "J.R." Lookout, Charles Edward Lookout and Etta James Lookout.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henryetta Laverne Lookout, Laverne Randolph Lookout Jr., Sophie Marie Lookout, Debra Lynn Taylor "Pat Baby" and Dumplin Irene High.

Traditional Indian services will be Monday, Sept. 14th at 9:00 AM at the Wakon Iron Chapel, Pawhuska with her brother Ira Lookout officiating.
