Marcus Randall Kesseler passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 37. He was born November 4, 1988, in Springfield, Missouri, to Randall Gene Kesseler and Elizabeth Ann (James) Kesseler.
Marcus graduated from Sanger High School in Sanger, Texas, in 2007. Throughout his working life, he was known for his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, and remarkable mechanical aptitude. He worked as a derrick hand in the oil and gas industry and held a variety of positions in commercial and industrial settings, often specializing in maintenance and troubleshooting. If something was mechanical or electrical and needed fixing, there was a good chance Marcus could figure it out.
His work took him to North Dakota, where he endured harsh conditions, including temperatures of 40 degrees below zero and colder, while working as a mechanic and as part of maintenance and cleanout crews. He also worked as a carpenter in Dickinson, North Dakota. At another point in his career, Marcus served as a manager at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, demonstrating the versatility and determination that characterized so much of his working life.
Marcus took pride not only in the work he performed but also in the way he presented and carried himself. Whether dressed casually or in good work clothes, he believed in setting an example through his appearance, his work, and the respect he showed others.
Beneath his hardworking exterior was an especially generous heart. Marcus would go out of his way to help someone less fortunate than himself. His compassion was not simply something he talked about; he put it into action. On more than one occasion, Marcus was quite literally willing to give the shirt off his back to help someone experiencing homelessness or in need.
Marcus was proud of his Osage heritage and was a member of the Osage Nation; he came from the Deer Clan. His heritage was an important part of the story and family from which he came.
Marcus will be remembered for his capable hands, his determination, his pride in a job well done, his independent spirit, and, above all, the generosity he showed to others. He knew how to fix things, but perhaps what mattered most was his instinct to help people when he saw someone who needed it.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ann James Kesseler of Hominy; two (2) brothers Christopher Owen Davis of AR, Marshall James Kesseler of MO; Nephew Tristan Davis of AR; Niece Jasmine Grace Davis of FL; Uncle and Aunt Charles and Marilyn Kesseler; Aunts Deborah (Kesseler) Bucklew and Rebecca (Kesseler) Ake; Cousins Stephen Kesseler, Christy Kesseler, Amber Bucklew, Jinny Bucklew, and Bethany Bucklew of TX; Uncles George Marshall James of OH, Thomas Patrick James of CA; Aunts Susie Curnutt of Bartlesville, Rhonda Marcelle James Carter of GA; Cousins, Walter Anthony Watts of OKC; Zachary Carter of GA, Grant Wilson Carter of GA, Grace Carter of GA, Abigail Joy James of IN; and many extended family members.
Marcus was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents Ruby Mae (Webb) Wilson and Charles Harry Wilson, Sr.; Grandparents Frank Marshall James, M.D., Christina Cecelia (Wilson) James; Father Randall Gene Kesseler; Aunt Elda Cecelia (Childers) Watts; Cousin Jacob Alexander James; as well as other loved family members.
