Lisa Marie Ducker

Lisa Marie Ducker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and master crafter, passed away on February18, 2024 at the age of 61. Lisa was born December 5th, 1962, in Pittsburg, KS to Tony & Joyce (Welsh) Weber. She graduated from Girard High School in 1981 and attended Pittsburg State University for a short time pursuing an interest in Art. In 1985, Lisa moved to Hominy, OK to live with her mother Joyce and stepfather Jim Welsh. Shortly after her move, Lisa underwent her first colon surgery and found out she was pregnant. August of 1985, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Kati Beth. She often referred to Kati as her miracle baby who saved her life. In winter of 1987, Lisa met the loves of her life while carhopping at Sonic Drive ln. She told everyone that she fell in love with Christopher and Steve was the added bonus. Six months after meeting, Steve and Lisa were married on April 1st, 1988. Lisa always joked that they were 'fools for falling in love" so they chose April Fool’s Day for their wedding day. Lisa went on to adopt Chris as her own, as Steve did the same with Kati. Throughout the years, Lisa's occupations included customer service in restaurant and retail businesses, babysitting, homemaker, and her most cherished job as a childcare advocate at Hominy Head Start. Although Lisa had battled chronic illnesses from her adolescent years, she fell ill in 2017 with cancer and battled it with everything she had and received a cancer free diagnosis in winter 2023. She was proud to be a 6time cancer survivor. Lisa's vibrant spirit and love for life touched everyone she encountered. She found joy in crafting, particularly in making Indian shirts, showcasing her creativity and talent. She spent many years chasing Chris and Kati around the ball field, often keeping books, helping in concession or keeping gate for the youth leagues, Hominy Wild Thangs, Hominy Bucks and Lady Bucks. After the kids graduated, she kept her focus and support on her bonus kid and neighbor, Seth Kason. Lisa's weekends were often filled with pride as she cheered on her grandkids in their sporting events, reveling in their victories, and supporting them through challenges. She also enjoyed watching her family and friends participate in Hominy In LonSchka dances. She loved spending time with Steve out at the lake at the family lake lot and traveling to see her family at reunions. These past few years that she was home bound, Lisa looked forward to her family's annual Ducker Family Fantasy Football league. She took pride in battling for last place to earn the Toilet Bowl Award and enjoyed the trash talking with her grandsons. She was a huge fan of following Hominy Buck football, Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, and quickly became an Arizona Cardinals fan supporting her other bonus kid, Zaven Collins. Known for her unabashedly ornery nature, Lisa brought laughter and spunk to every gathering, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and community. Lisa's legacy of love, laughter, and creativity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
