Leota Faye Domeny Brien, 86, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at her home in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was born on November 20, 1925 in Edmond, Oklahoma to Edward and Inez Crosby Ward. She attended school at Valley Grove and then Morrison High School. On April 6, 1945 she married Elmer Leroy Domeny, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1982. They lived in the Watchorn area, and moved to a farm north of Pawnee in 1952. She loved to garden, can, fish, bowl, and travel. She also enjoyed piecing quilts and belonged to a country quilting club for years, and continued quilting throughout her lifetime. Elmer and Leota owned and operated Domeny Help Yourself Laundry in Pawnee for years, and then Leota went to work for Pawnee Bill Museum and was the first employee to retire from there after sixteen years with Earl Chapman as her boss. On September 10, 1983 Leota married James Brien, and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1996. She joined Project Heart, and planted flowers there with her twin sister, Leona and delivered meals to the shut-ins. She met her special friend Jeff Smith there, and they took care of cattle and made flower beds together. They also traveled until his death in 2008. After his death Leota moved back into town in 2009. Besides her two husbands, Leota was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Inez Ward; Brothers, Tom, Bill, Keith, Joseph, Frank, Merle, Earl, and Clarence Ward; Sisters, Lucille, Juanita and Marcella; Son, Elmer Domeny, Jr; Daughter, Loretta Reisch; Son-in-law, Franklin Cates, and daughter-in-law Mary Domeny. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2012 at Poteet Funeral Chapel, Pawnee, Oklahoma, with Rev. Ray Moffeit officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
