Kenneth Lavell Goodman, 90 years, of Prue, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Claremore Veterans Center, in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Kenneth was born in Crowder, Oklahoma, on July 7, 1926, to Clarence and Ethel (Maynard) Goodman. He graduated from Konawa High School, and entered the United States Navy on April 10, 1944, where he held four different ratings; Aviation Support Equipment Technician, Seaman 2nd Class, Aviation Electrician's Mate 3rd class, and Aviation Electrician's Mate 2nd class. He attended USNTS Landing Craft School in San Diego, CA. He then served in the USN Carrier Air Service Unit 32, (CASU-32) Air Transport Squadron 2, which operated in the Pacific theater during WWII. He received the following commendations: Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Kenneth was honorably discharged on May 12, 1946.
Kenneth married Margie Jane Fast on October 9, 1948, and was married for 61 years. Kenneth worked as a Field Service Technician, for Bethlehem Steel Supply Division, for 36 years. He lived in Prue since 1978, he was a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ, and served many years on the Prue Board of Trustees.
Kenneth is survived by: his son, Tim Goodman, and his wife Amy, of Prue, OK; his daughter, Deborah Wasaff, of Prue, OK; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous and beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margie; his parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Memorial Services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Pavilion located at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
