Jimmie (Jim) Wayne Beckett, of Hominy, passed from this life on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the age of 83. Jim was born on December 14, 1941, in Prague, OK to Charles Thorn Paxton and Bonnie Austin. Bonnie then was united in marriage to Youkle Beckett in 1942

He was raised and received his education around Seminole and Little, OK, graduating from Strother HS in 1959. In February of 1960, Jim enlisted in the US Air Force, serving honorably until his discharge in July of 1963. He attended Tulsa Technical College in 1964. Jim was united in marriage to Jane Kay Williams on June 27, 1973, at Perry, OK after having met at the Perry Sonic Drive-in through mutual friends. For their Honeymoon, they went on an Alaskan Cruise. Having been a cook in the Air Force, it was only natural that his career was in that field. His first job was at the Sonic Drive-In in Perry, and later the Cattleman's Restaurant in Blackwell and the Sonic in Lamar, Colorado. In the fall of 1986, they moved to Hominy where he owned and operated Sonic Drive-In until he semi-retired in 2011. Opening up Boomer Rang for a short time. Also working at Dick Conners and Walmart before full retirement

Running a business took a lot of his time, but when he could, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim also loved to read until his eyesight began to fail. He loved animals and had several pets through the years. Jim was a fan of Bluegrass and country music; and enjoyed watching westerns, especially those who had John Wayne, Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott in them. He was a loving, caring and giving husband and father. Jim was a generous man when it came to helping around the city. One of Jim traditions was every year on January 1st. Jim would always serve his famous black eyes with every order he served at Sonic

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include his wife of 52 years - Jane; children Robert Garon Beckett of Okmulgee, Jina Dryden and husband Randy of Hominy and Richard Beckett of Hominy. Also surviving are grandchildren Kaylyn Beckett, Megan Gaines, Tyler Gaines, Christina & David Cordal of Cleveland, Blake & Ashlee Dryden of Cleveland, Ashley & Jose Sanchez of Tulsa, Randi & Trey Dill of Kentucky; great grandkids Wyatt Gaines, Gracelyn Dill, Keely & Rhett Dryden, Lillian Gurley, Caden and Tanner Cordal; as well as two nephews David Hoffman, Jr and JerryDon Hoffman.
