Funeral Services for Gary Dale Higgins will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday June 17, 2026 at the home place outside of Blackburn, OK. Gary will be buried on the Ranch overlooking the Arkansas River in Osage County.

Gary was born on March 6,1954 in Pawnee, OK. He was the son of Dale and Joan Higgins (Sperry) and was the eldest of Roger, Larry and Janet. He was raised and attended school at Middle Enterprise until later graduating from Hominy High School in 1972. He was a state champion in track. Gary married Ivy Montgomery in 1973 and the following year the BAR 2 Cattle Company was started when they bought 40 head of cattle. They spent the next 25 years growing the BAR 2 Cattle Company in Pawhuska and Grayhorse before settling back in Lower Enterprise. Gary spent his life working with cattle and horses with an occasional sheep or donkey in the pasture. He was constantly teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or sons-in-law’s about ranch life and could be found most evenings feeding fish and enjoying life at the headquarters pond. He did enjoy the random wild adventure with friends or family when ranch life would permit.

Gary passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years old.

Survivors are his loving wife of over 53 years Ivy, 3 children Jennifer Hight and her husband Jimmy of Lexington, Brandi Higgins of Blackburn, Amanda Stierwalt of Blackburn. Brother Roger Higgins and wife Lesa of Blackburn, Brother Larry Higgins and wife Danelle of Hominy and sister Janet of Ralston, 4 grandchildren Kelsey, Delaney, Hadleigh and Hunter as well as one great-grandson Gunner.
