Dorothy Marie Hartman, 79, of Hominy, passed from this life on Friday, December 25, 2020 at the Journey Home in Bartlesville. Dorothy was born August 31, 1941 in Tahlequah, OK to Edward Raymond and Alice Marie (Lee) Latta. She was raised and received her education in Bunch, OK attending the Cave Springs School. On December 24, 1957, Dorothy was united in marriage to Richard Anderson Hartman, SR at Stilwell, OK. They made their home in Stilwell, later moving to Collinsville, OK and New Mexico before settling in Hominy in 1963 where they raised their family. Dorothy worked as a secretary for seventeen years at the First Baptist Church before working at the Osage Housing Authority until retirement. Being not one to stay at home, Dorothy then went to work at Powell Funeral Home for 12 years, finally retiring for good. She loved gardening, especially growing flowers and watching and feeding the hummingbirds. Dorothy was president of the Hominy Garden Club on numerous occasions and enjoyed writing poems.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hominy for over 50 years. She loved working during Vacation Bible School and enjoyed seeing all the children learn of God’s love. She loved when Brother Mark would take her Sunday School class on lunch outings. She talked about the fellowship with her Joy Class for weeks after they happened.
She was a devoted Christian and shared her love of God with everyone she knew. She truly loved her family. No matter what the situation was Dorothy knew just what to say to comfort them. Seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren always made her day and I know the love they had for her was just as strong.
Dorothy is survived by her children – Richard A. Hartman, JR and wife Kim, Alice Marie (Hartman) Cotton and husband Barry and John Hartman, all of Hominy; grandchildren – Richie Hartman and wife Britta of Spearville, KS, Michael Hartman and Jamie of Spearville, KS, Chris Netto and wife Meagan of Hulbert, OK and Will Hartman and wife Chelsey of Sand Springs, OK, Jennifer Rhodes and husband Jesse of Tulsa, OK and Chet Cotton and wife Whitney of Carmen, OK; and 20 great grandchildren.
