Delphine Harragarra Hopper Obituary Delphine Harragarra Hopper, age 90, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Cleveland Manor in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Delphine was born June 30, 1923 at Red Rock, Oklahoma. Delphine Harragarra Hopper was the last full-blood member of the Oteo-Missouria Tribe. She was the youngest daughter and last surviving child of the late Moses and Mary (McGlasin) Harragarra. Her father was the last Hereditary Chief of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. Her mother initiated the first all American Indian War Mothers Chapter in the United States. Delphine and her family belonged to the Buffalo Clan. Delphine grew up with her large family in the Red Rock area. She attended Pawnee and Chilocco Boarding Schools. She was constantly traveling when she was a young girl staying with her siblings and spending time with her nieces and nephews, many of whom were the same age. Delphine and her brother Kenneth Harragarra loved camping at many Pow-Wows with their families and nieces and nephews. She especially loved and looked forward to the Oteo Encampment each year. She also traveled to many Pow-Wows out of state with her nephew Vernon Harragarra. She participated with Vernon in the Sun Dance Ceremonies for four years. She was active in the Native American Church. Delphine is survived by 2 daughters: Martha Hopper Elliott of Hominy and Jan Gaebler and husband Carl of Owasso, Oklahoma and a son: Daniel Hopper of Hominy; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson. Delphine was lovingly referred to as "Granny Hop" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family. She loved cooking for her family. She especially loved making meat pies, going to bingo, going to yard sales and playing cards. Delphine's unconditional love for her family and her faith in God were unwavering. Her strength will always be an inspiration to her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Hopper Sr. October 6, 1982, son John Hopper Jr., daughter Mary Frances Hopper, infant daughter Donna Marie Hopper, grandson Taylor Willits, 10 brothers and sisters. Her funeral services will be Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Friends Church with Pastor David Nagle officiating. Ted Grant will do the graveside service. Pianist was Theresa Cowan and congregational singing hymns were "Amazing Grace" Page 149, "In the Garden" page 99 and "God Be With You" page 345. Pallbearers were Chris Ostrander, Skyler Hensley, Joe Cobb, Jim Hopper, Kyle Hopper, Channing Tardiff and honorary pall bearers Danny Hopper, Seth Hensley, John Hopper, Jess Hopper, John Hartness, Chip Fairmond, Anthony Fairmond, Carl Gaebler III, Austin Endress, Bryce Cobb, Kennon Cobb, Camden Cobb, Jayden Jefferson, Ethan Jefferson and Dylan Brumfield. Interment followed at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery with Powell Funeral Home making the arrangements Memorial gifts can be made to The Friends Church. www.powellfuneralservice.com
