Charles William Brown

Charles William Brown was born on November 19, 1940, in Jennings, Oklahoma to John William Brown and Helen Belle Carter. He grew up in Hominy, Oklahoma. Charles joined the US Army in 1960. He spent six months on active duty and completed six years in the National Guard.

Charles met Linda Rey Kerr on the dance floor in Fairfax on a Saturday night. Charles and Linda eloped and got married on November 11, 1961. It appeared that Charles had kidnapped her and ran away. That led to sixty plus years of marriage. Charles was very jealous of any guy that would look at Linda.

Charles was in the Pipefitters union and that took him and Linda all over the place in the early years of life. Charles was very involved in racing. He would work all week and then fly to the races all over the country. Then drive all night to be back to work on Monday. He loved fast cars. They moved back to Osage County, he went to work for his father-in-law, Raymond Kerr. Charles cowboyed and welded for Raymond for twenty-seven years. Charles also welded for himself.

Charles and Linda raised three children: Charles, Dustin, and Candace. Charles was lots of fun and loved to joke around. Charles was a dog whisperer and always had dogs, Buddy, and Bandit. He also had a pet bull, Bobby.

Charles passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Charles is survived by his three children Charles and Candi Brown, Dustin Brown and Candace Brown; fourteen grandchildren Deanna, Alexis and Chase, Allen, Cordell, Corbin, Randle, Baylee, Dylan and Alex, Kayli, Kelsie and Hunter, Kynlee, Justin, Colton, Thomas; twelve great grandchildren; six siblings Mike Brown, Jimmy Carter, Sue Copeland, Lovena Eddings, Charlene Norris, and Mary Garroutte; He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents John Brown and Helen Carter; Siblings John Brown, Rahndy Brown, Kay Shipman, Violet Reese
