Obituary

Brenda Gail Dyer passed from this life on March 25, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Brenda was born on April 17, 1955, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Brenda was the daughter of Andrew McClain and Patricia Ann (Walters) Reid. Brenda grew up in Hominy, Oklahoma, where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1973. During her school years, she was actively involved in the marching band and was a member of the pep club. Following high school, she continued her education at Northeastern A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma, where she roomed with her best friend Theresa Cowan. On April 22, 1978, Brenda married the love of her life, Thomas Eugene Dyer Jr. They resided in Hominy, Oklahoma, where Brenda began working for Claude's grocery store and later Marvin's Food Saver. Brenda found joy in life's simple pleasures- buying and planting flowers, tending to her hanging baskets, and going shopping with her daughters and sister Becky. She also enjoyed sitting on the front porch with her husband, listening to the radio and visiting with visitors who stopped by. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild, who affectionately called her "Booma". She treasured every moment with them, from cheering under the Friday night lights to Saturday little league football games, baseball games, basketball games, and track meets. Softball held a special place in her heart, and she rarely missed a game. Wherever Brenda was, Tom was never far behind, often carrying lawn chairs or stadium seats so they could enjoy the games together. Brenda cherished her time spent with loved ones, especially at family gatherings. She enjoyed chatting with her friends on the phone and occasionally meeting for lunch. She was also a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Hominy. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Tom Dyer of Hominy, Oklahoma, her three daughters, Megan Hawkins and husband Billy of Hominy, Oklahoma, Kandis Cowan and husband Sam of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and Tamara Dixon and husband Daniel of Hominy, Oklahoma, sister Becky Collins and husband Mike of Hominy, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren Macy Glaviano (Ethane Wikel), Brock Dyer, Bostyn and Baylor Cowan, and Maelyn, Ellie and Cruz Dixon; one great grandson Bowman James Wikel and a host of other relatives and friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Reid and Pat Reid, and one sister, Debbie Reid.
