Anita Louise Red Eagle, 79, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, surrounded by her family at her residence in Hominy. Anita was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on December 12, 1945, to Harry Jr. and Willimina (Montgomery) Red Eagle.
She attended school in Hominy and graduated from Hominy High School in 1964. In 1973, Anita began working for Indian Health Services in Pawnee, Oklahoma. IHS sent Anita and her girls to South Dakota for five years but she came home to finish her 38 years with IHS in Pawnee.
Anita was a member of the Hominy War Mothers, Hey-Y ah Sisters, and the Kihekah Steh Club. She was a past president of the War Mothers. She was a member of the Native American Church.Anita is survived by her daughters Domnic Brown, Billie Files, and Maressa Files.
She is survived by her granddaughters Jessica Files (Bryan) and Lauren Lookout and great-grandsons Owen and Soren Sandlin. She is survived by her sister Janet Goodfox, sister-in-law Pauline Red Eagle, and several nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her parents Harry Jr. and Willimina Red Eagle, her brother, Harry Roy Red Eagle and nephew Paul Red Eagle. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents Harry Sr. and Mary Red Eagle and Roy and Clara Montgomery.
