William Neal Poskey

William (Bill) Neal Poskey, 87 years, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away from this earth on Monday, December 30, 2019 at his residence in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

William was born in Drumright, Oklahoma on November 5, 1932 to Otto Henry and Della Mae (McClain) Poskey. Bill was raised and attended school in Stroud, where he graduated in 1950. He entered the Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. His most significant duty assignment was the Battery A. 496 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion.

After William was discharged, he was married and had two sons, Robert Neal Poskey and William Dale Poskey. Later, he was married to his love, Opal L. (Prater) Poskey. They then made their home near Cleveland, Oklahoma for the past 31 years. William worked as a technician for a tool company, Steve’s Wholesale for many years. He enjoyed mowing his yard to perfection, collecting mowers, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, and of course, he loved to just watch the grass grow. He was also baptized and a member of the Baptist Church with Pastor Wilkenson.

William is survived by: wife, Opal L. (Prater) Poskey of Cleveland, OK; two sons, William Dale Poskey of Houston, TX; Robert Neal Poskey of San Manuel, AZ; step-children, Robert, Tony, Rusty, and Deanna; with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

William is preceded in death by: parents, Otto Henry and Della Mae (McClain) Poskey; three sisters and four brothers; step daughters, Lisa Barker and Gayle Williams.

Visitation for William will be from 12:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, January 03, 2020, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service for William be at 11:00AM, Saturday, January 04, 2020 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with LaShawna Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be Aaron Brown, Robert Poskey, Robert Barker, Frank Hudson, R.L. Barker, and Jimmy Himes. Musical selections will be “Long Black Train” by Josh Turner, “The Old Rugged Cross” by Frank Hudson, “Go Rest High” by Vince Gill, “Grandpa-Tell Me about the Good Old Days” by The Judd’s. Vocalist will be Frank Hudson. Burial will follow services at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
