Victor Carrol Weaver, longtime resident of Grainola, Oklahoma, died Friday, February 13, 2015, at Saint John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 88. Born December 3, 1926, in Grainola, Carrol was the son of Samuel Jacob and Mary Mable (Vawter) Weaver. He received his education in Grainola and entered the Army on February 27, 1945. He served on Adak Island, Alaska, through November 16, 1946, when he was discharged. On February 19, 1949, he married Alice Eva Oliver in Cedar Vale, Kansas. They established their first home in the Grainola area and spent most of their lives ranching and farming in the region, with a short stint as ranch managers in Delta, Colorado. Carrol loved bluegrass music and played both the guitar and fiddle. He also enjoyed ham radio, fishing, hunting, target shooting, and reloading. Carrol is survived by his brother, Melvin “Spec” Weaver, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Karla, of Sandia Park, New Mexico; three granddaughters, Kaileen (Weaver) Skidgel of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Ashley (Weaver) Snider of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Annie (Seyle) Spear of Russellville, Arkansas; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake Skidgel, Brooklyn Skidgel, Bryce Skidgel, Zandra Snider, Alice Snider, Adam Seyle, and Story Spear. In addition to his wife, Carrol was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Everett and Truman; three sisters, Dortha Wheat, Lucille Fender, and Twila Duroy; and daughter, May Eagle “Billie” Seyle. A graveside service was held in the Foraker Cemetery on Monday, February 16, under direction of Poteet Funeral Home in Pawnee.
