Tsianina “Nina” Leahann Brunt, 52 years, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Sand Spring, Oklahoma.

Tsianina was born on February 16, 1967 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Stephanie Jean Brunt. Nina graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1985.

Nina spent a lot of time outdoors growing up, as she was raised animals and enjoyed being in 4-H. She spent a lot of time with her grandma, Betty Jean Black, who raised her. After graduation, Nina married Billy Smith, and to this marriage, two children were born. Nina later married Roscoe Mays, and to this marriage two more children were born. In her later years, she found the love of her life, John Fields. Together they spent more than 20 years enjoying one another.

Nina’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly. She loved cooking, listening to country music and occasionally visiting with close friends and family. She spoke often about her life and growing up in Indian Camp. She loved the closeness of the residents in Indian Camp where she met and grew up with and remained lifelong friends.

Nina is survived by: her loving companion, John Fields of Hominy, Oklahoma; her children, Jessica Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Lee Smith of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Paeshia Mays of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and Chakota Mays. Her step-children, Samantha Fields of Pawnee, Oklahoma; Joseph Fields of Pawnee, Oklahoma; sister, Sherri Berrong (Cristy Dawn) of Weatherford, Oklahoma; brother John S. Mashunkashey; aunt, Kathleen Black of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; uncle Ted Brunt of Tulsa, Oklahoma; oldest granddaughter, Leigha Paige, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; as well as six other grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tsianina was preceded in death by: her mother, Stephanie Jean Brunt-Mashunkashey; grandmother, Betty Jean Black-Brunt; sisters, Johnia Jean, and Teddy Jean; step-son, James Fields.

Visitation for Tsianina will be at 4:00pm, Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Wakon Iron Hall in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Rosary service will be held at 7:00pm, Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Wakon Iron Hall in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Indian prayer service will be at 8:00am, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Wakon Iron Hall in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Mass will be at 10:00am, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Burial will follow services at the Pawhuska City Cemetery in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be: Pat Wilson, Drew Tiger, Justin Patterson, Hunter Garrett, Josh Graves, and Sammy Cass. Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Sell, Joseph Fields, Jay Carter, Matt (Buffy) Revard, and Bruce Cass.
