Rozelle Geraldine (Streetman) Downey Obituary Rozelle Geraldine (Streetman) Downey was born December 5, 1921 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Jerome Fletcher (Dick) and Mary Ellen (Holland) Streetman and passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Wesley-Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Geraldine was raised in the Sunset School District, Northeast of Hominy. She attended Sunset School for 8 years and attended Mound Valley High School for 4 years, graduating in May 1939. In July 1939 she was united in marriage to Harold O. Downey, Sr., whom she met at Mound Valley. They were married 57 years and 3 months before Harold passed away October 3, 1996. They lived in Illinois where Harold worked in the oilfield, later moving back to Hominy for a few years. They moved to Pineville, Missouri in 1961 where Harold was a partner in the Downey-Woodard-Mooney Funeral Homes for a few years. In 1965 they moved to Ada, Oklahoma where Geraldine went to work for Bluebell Manufacturing Company. She worked for 2½ years; before moving back to Hominy and going to work at Munsingwear Inc., where she worked from 1968 to 1985, when she retired. Geraldine loved being with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, piecing quilts, and any kind of sewing and cooking. She decorated cakes for 10 years or so which she dearly loved doing, she also enjoyed working in her yard. She is survived by one son: Harold O. Downey, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one daughter: Jeanette E. Browning and husband James of Augusta, Kansas and five granddaughters: Melissa Downey of Shawnee, OK, Cynthia Spence of Tulsa, OK, Donna McGrew of Cleveland, OK, Ila Potts of Cleveland, OK and Rachel Pillars of Hominy, OK; four grandsons: Sean Browning of Willard, Missouri, Troy Browning of Augusta, KS, Thomas Bolt, (U.S. Navy) in Japan and John Bolt of Tulsa, OK.; and twenty one great grandchildren, one great, great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, several step-great, and great and great grandchildren. Geraldine was a member of the Church of Christ and loved the Lord's Church very much, being a Christian since 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Harold and daughter- Phyllis R. Pillars. Funeral Services were Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bud Tibbles officiating. Music selections were "One Day at A Time" and congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art" and "Precious Memories". Casket bearers were Sean Browning, Troy Browning, Jessy Spence, R.D. Spence, John Bolt and Dustin Potts. Interment was in the A.J. Powell Cemetery under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Hominy.
