Roger Wayne Pointer Obituary Roger Wayne Pointer, 65, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away Monday evening, January 24 , 2011 of heart failure at the Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Roger was born June 9, 1945 in La Juanta, Colorado to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Jewel (Goldsberry) Pointer. He attended Hominy Public Schools. Roger married Barbara Thorp March 18, 1994 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Roger was a self employed trader. His best times were when he could swap or sell at the Flea Markets, and the goods were always accompanied by a good story or tall tale. He is survived by his mother- Mary Jewel Pointer; and wife- Barbara Pointer of the home; 1 daughter- Julia Hynes and husband Robert of Tulsa, Oklahoma and 1 son- Bill Chowning and wife Shelia of Davenport, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren- Bridget Jones, Anthony Cowan, Traci Dawn Kindrick, Cassie Chowning, Whitney Chowning, Jaci Chowning and Blake Chowning; and 3 great grandchildren- Travon James Kelley, Noah Jones and Aliya Cowan. He loved having the grandbabies around and he will be sorely missed by all. Roger was preceded in death by his father Benjamin. His Memorial Service will be Friday, January 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel, Hominy, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike Mitchell officiating. Arrangements were made with Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma.
