Norma Jean Passmore, 77 years, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 4:11 PM.

Norma was born November 18, 1939, the oldest of three children, to John and Merry May (Morgan) Thompson in Hominy, Oklahoma. She surrendered her life to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized while still a teenager. She was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Del City, Oklahoma for over 50 years.

Norma Jean married the love of her life, Joe Richard Passmore, Sr., on September 12, 1958 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She became a mother the following year to Joe Richard, II, and then six years later she gave birth to her second son, Jason Brent.

Norma went to Central State University, earning her teachers degree where she graduated summa cum laude, then went on to earn her Masters of Education, all the while lovingly raising her two boys and being a wonderful helpmeet to her husband. After retiring in 1997, she devotedly dedicated herself to her family. Norma was beloved for her graciousness and her dignity. She was lovely and elegant both in character and appearance, while maintaining a meek and humble Christ-like spirit. She will be remembered for her integrity, generosity, wisdom and amazing work ethic in every endeavor she chose to pursue.

Norma was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Merry May Thompson, and her brother John Thompson, Jr.

Norma is survived by: her beloved husband, Joe; her 2 sons: Joe Richard Passmore, II and his wife Kathi Ann, Jason Brent Passmore and his wife, Lisa Jean; her 6 grandchildren: Katricia Powers and her husband, Mark, Tiffany McMillan and her husband, Kyle, Courtney Van Etten and her husband Bobby, Jason Brent Passmore, Jr., Gabrielle Passmore and Malachi Passmore; 10 cherished great-grandchildren, her dear sister, Wilma Roberts, her best friend, Carol Burgin and numerous nieces and nephews. We will love you forever, Ginch.

Funeral Services are 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Church of the Nazarene in Hominy with Pastor Kyle McMillan officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Brent Passmore, Jr., Malachi Passmore, Mark Powers, Bobby Van Ettan, Sean Roberts and Trace Bailey. Honorary Pallbearer was Nicolas Bailey. Musical Selections were "It Is Well with My Soul" and "Come Thou Fount" with Kaleb McMillan as pianist. Burial followed at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy.
