Nolan "Tuff" Miles Cowan Obituary Nolan "Tuff" Miles Cowan, age 77, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at St. John's Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tuff was born January 25, 1934 to Ben Dovel and Nina Elizabeth (Mullins) Cowan in Ralston, Oklahoma. Tuff has lived in Hominy since 1975. Tuff and Mary Lou Funkhouser were married December 12, 1952; she preceded him in death July 31, 1989. Tuff lived in Webb City, Oklahoma, when he worked for Kerr Well Service; they then worked as houseparents for the American Legion Children's Home in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and then for Bones Tool Company in Hominy. He had several hobbies such as tinkering with motors & mowers. He could fix most anything; he liked playing cards and dominos. He was a good man that enjoyed being with his family and aggravating Kay. Tuff is survived by his partner- Kay Davis of Hominy, Oklahoma and her six Children. Three children- Cheryl Walling, Gary Cowan, Lynn Cross and her partner Rick Waffle all of Hominy, Oklahoma. Five grandchildren- Jessica Purvis and husband Isaac, Marcia Sullivan, Brandi Sutton and husband Shawn, Ashlee Cowan, all of Hominy and Justin Havens and wife Rebecca of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; eight great grandchildren; two brothers- Benjie Cowan of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Wallace Cowan of Choteau, Oklahoma; and various nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou, two sisters, 3 brothers and a son Jackie. Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, Hominy, Oklahoma with Rev. David Mingus and Rev. Don Brown officiating. Taped music selections are- "How Great Thou Art", "Daddy's Hands", "Beyond the Sunset", and "Go Rest High on That Mountain". Pall Bearers are James Ray Cowan, Kenny Cross, "Sonny" Sullivan, Dennis Kidder, Leo Youtsey and David McGee; Honorary Pall Bearers are Richard Martin, Kenneth Horton, Seth Cale, Justin Havens, Isaac Purvis, and Shawn Sutton.
