Funeral services for Michael "Mike" Lewis Brown, 55 of Hominy, Oklahoma will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hominy High School Gymnasium with Pastor Larry Stuart, Everett Waller and Pastor Bud Tibbles officiating. Interment in A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma is under the direction of Powell Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service are Mike Bolt, Steve Breckenridge, Daniel Owens, Charlie O'Leary, Danny Daniels, Roger Conaghan, Mike Pattison, Gary Majors, Scott Harmon and Jake Waller. Musical selections for the service are "Washed In The Blood-I'll Fly Away" , "He Lives", "Mansion Over The Hilltop" and "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" sung by the Tibbles family. Masonic services will be by the Hebron Lodge #215 of Cleveland, OK, led by Gary Beisly Grand Master of Oklahoma. Mike passed away on January 10, 2015 at his residence in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was born February 15, 1959 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Lewis Sterling and Letha Mae (Farmer) Brown. He was a graduate of Hominy High School in 1977. He attended OSU where he was Chairman of the Board of The Wilhelm Complex during 1979-1980 winning the award for best complex. Mike married Connie Wilburn on August 23, 1980. In 1983 he was baptized at the First Christian Church of Hominy. He worked as a field inspector in the oil and gas industry. Mike loved his work in the oilfield and during that time he was awarded the OERB Field Inspector of the year. Mike was a lifelong resident of Hominy, where he was a very active member of the community. He a was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, he was on the correctional emergency response team at Connors Correctional Center, a 32nd Degree Mason, a past worthy patron for the Order of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for the Hominy Fire Department. Mike also helped during the Oklahoma City bombing working security. Mikes love for Hominy and the Hominy School System drove him to accomplish many things. He helped start the Danny Daniels Relay, helped write a grant for the science department and compiled a book about Hominy Buck Football entitled "Hominy Buck Football Making of a Tradition". Mike founded the HB Sports 29 years ago and in 1999 he helped start the Hominy Buck Pride Football. He spent 12 years helping with the little league football program making sure every child could participate regardless of money and was a member of the Hominy Buck Quarterback Club. Mike was a member of the band parents in Hominy and helped get the band room named after Tom Gray. In 2012 he was very active in helping get the band program started again for the Bucks. He will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife Connie of the home, a daughter Gina Long and husband Pat of Guymon, OK; a son Bryce Brown of Owasso, mother Letha Mae Brown of Hominy; a sister Debbie Mayo and husband Lonnie of Edmond; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
