Loyd Elmo Martin Obituary Loyd Elmo Martin, 75 of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away July 6, 2008 at his residence. He was born on September 14, 1932 to John and Lillie (Turpin) Martin in Dustin, Oklahoma. He married Betty Glass January 31, 1981 in Reno, Nevada. They have lived in Hominy since December of 2004. Loyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a truck driver and a hard worker. Loyd attended the Antioch Christian Fellows-ship Church in Wynona, Oklahoma. His wife Betty of the home survives Loyd. Loyd and Betty had one daughter Sharon Walton of Modesto, California; he had three children by a previous marriage- Loyd Martin of Chico, California, Randy Martin of Gainesville, Virginia; and Karen Horsell of Overland Park, Kansas; two step children- Geraldine Alves and Thomas Walton both of Modesto, California. Seventeen grandchildren- James Walton Jr., Thomas Walton Jr., Leroy Walton; Tommy, Jennifer and Raquel Walton; Michael and Susanna Ballard, Sandy Alves, Angel Rodriguez, Kayle and Hannah Horsell, Stephen and Stephenie Martin; Elizibeth, Jennifer and Katy Martin. Sixteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Three brothers- John Martin of Midland, Texas, Ed Martin of Sanger, California and James Martin; three sisters- Juanita Graham of Turley, Oklahoma, Ida Ramer and Barbara Slaven both of Kerman, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepson James Walton, a brother- Lewis Martin and two sisters- Maxine Smith and Ruby Martin. Services for Loyd are Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Brown officiating. Vocalist will be Sonie Brown singing The 23rd Psalm. Taped music selections are Ill Wait for You , Dance with my Father , I Can Only Imagine and at the cemetery On the Wings of A Snow White Dove. Casket bearers were Ed Martin, Lewis Martin, Rodney Martin, Angel Rodriguez, Sharon Walton and Jr. Stevens. Burial will follow at the A.J. Powell Cemetery. Arrangements made with Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma.
