Lotus Marie Burnett

Lotus was born on June 16th, 1933 to Dalton and Jessie Lee Ambrose in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was later adopted and raised by Herman McCarthy. Herman was the father she knew when growing up. She lived and grew up just south of town at a place called Deer Run Farm. Later after graduating high school, she attended Robert’s Beauty School in Tulsa and then opened a beauty shop in Hominy. She met Bobby Davis and later married. They had three children, Robert, Kevin and Dianne. They lived in Tulsa in the beginning and then later moved back to Hominy where they lived north of town in the Mound Valley area. She worked at Munsingwear for many years and the company was bought and sold several times until she finally retired from there. Later, she divorced and remarried Harold Burnett. She adopted and raised his two boys, Loren and Joseph Burnett. They lived in the Indian Village in the beginning and later moved in Hominy in an area better known as the Bronx.

Lotus was a loving mother and grandmother. When she lived in Mound Valley, she played many different games with her children, Robert, Kevin and Dianne this was great bonding time and many hours spent with her family. They played board games, card games and spent time watching television together. She played board games and card games with Loren and Joseph when they were young boys too. She loved to spend time with all of her children and grandchildren. She was always proud and happy to see all of her family. She enjoyed going to the Indian Dances in Hominy. She also enjoyed hanging out with her childhood friend Frances Sue.  

Lotus had 6 children: Robert Loy, Robert Travis, Kevin Clark, Lori Dianne, Loren Antoine and Joseph Roy, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. All of which loved her and she loved all of them.

She was preceded by: parents; Robert Loy and Kevin Clark.

Lotus got her wings on November 3, 2021. She will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends. She touched many lives with her compassion and love for her family and friends and was more than willing to give what she had to her family.

Family and friends are invited to attend her services at Powell’s Funeral Home on November 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Located at 223 N. Wood Ave., Hominy, Oklahoma to celebrate her life. Pastor Mark Formby will be officiating. Kevin Delong will be song leader. Speakers are Don Woolery and Robert Davis.
