Lindy Michael Spurgeon Obituary Lindy Michael Spurgeon, 47, of Hominy passed away on December 11, 2013 at his residence. Lindy was born June 1, 1966 in Riverside, California to Larry Edward and Sharlette (Whisenant) Spurgeon. Lindys family moved to Hominy when he was 6 months old, he graduated from Hominy High School in 1984. He has been a lifelong resident of Hominy. He worked as an oilfield worker on drilling rigs. Lindy married Valerie Hollowell on May 19, 2006 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Valerie of the home, two children: Sheena Nickerson of Cleveland and Stephen Spurgeon of Hominy; his mother Sharlette Gurganus of Hominy; four step children: Clint Brown and Keisha Brown both of Hominy; Bob Brown and Joey Brown both of Pawhuska; four grandchildren: Danica, Ella, Dustin, Dylan; ten step grandchildren: Kais, Malachie, Arian, Aden, Harley, Shelby, Trisidy, Lucious, Louise and Charlie; two sisters: Rita Mitchell of Hominy and Amy Gilpatrick of Oklahoma City, a brother: Chuck Spurgeon of Hominy and numerous nieces and nephews. Lindy was preceded in death by his father, an infant daughter Victoria Leigh Spurgeon, grandparents Clarence and Henrietta Whisenant; grandfather Eddie Spurgeon and grandmother Nellie Starks-Spurgeon. Funeral Services for Lindy were held Monday, December 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Pastor Wayne Brown officiating. Interment in A.J. Powell Cemetery was under the direction of Powell Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were Warren Mahan, John Gorton, Tim Piearcy, Clifford Hayes, Dave Kennedy and Mike Hudson. Honorary casket bearers were Keevin Bryant and Tim Bolt II. Musical selections for the service "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" sung by Frank Hudson, "Go Rest High on that Mountain", "Dust in the Wind", "Home Sweet Home", and "Knocking on Heavens Door". www.powellfuneralservice.com
