Leland Karr Ross

Leland Karr Ross was born on February 16, 1942 in Glencoe Oklahoma to Joseph Doyle Ross and Opal Mae Nichols Ross. He passed from this life on Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home in Glencoe Oklahoma having reached the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 16 days. He married Brenda Kay Buntin on July 1, 1961 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Glencoe. Together they owned and operated Ross’ Station in Glencoe for thirty-seven years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was very proud of the low number on his Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License #372. He worked as a farmer and would get tired and sleep for a while under the tractor, and he rode his motorcycle and was known as somewhat of a dare devil. Leland took the Dale Carnegie Course, and has ran for County Commissioner; served on the Glencoe School Board; Glencoe Town Board; Sunday School Director at the First Baptist Church in Glencoe; and has served as Chairman for the Payne County Farm Bureau Young People Committee. He mowed the City Park and was responsible for establishing Ross Landing at Boyd Davidson Park, and spent many hours there working. He loved his family, and especially the wagon time with his grandchildren. Leland is survived by: Wife, Brenda of the home in Glencoe; Son, Doyle Chip and his wife, Tana; daughter-in-law, Terri Ross; grandchildren, Dustin Ross and his wife, Brandy, Dillon Ross, Dalton Ross and his wife, Sarah, Jonna West, TaNeele Ross, Ryean Ross, Karrstn Ross, Shane Hoffman, Chais Hoffman and his wife Amanda, Cassi Robinson and her husband, Seth, Keegan Davis and his wife, Pam, Trevor Davis and his wife, Kearstin; 17 Great Grandchildren and one due in January; Brother, Jesse Ross and his wife, Carol; Three sisters, Jocille Hoffman and her husband, Jack, Jean Gay Potts and her husband, Jerry, and Barbara Cavett. Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Doyle and Opal Mae Ross, and his son, Everett Shay Ross. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Glencoe Public Schools Multi-Purpose Center, Glencoe, Oklahoma, with Rev. Norman Richmond officiating. Interment will be at Glencoe Cemetery, Glencoe, Oklahoma.
