Lanny Harold Ingalls

Lanny Harold Ingalls died on April 19, 2022 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Lanny Harold Ingalls age 79 was born in Old Mannford Dec. 18, 1942 to Hugh "Bud" Ingalls and Lillie Comer Ingalls. As a child he attended a one-room schoolhouse in Rigsby near what is now Westport, OK. As a child, he also attended Western Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland and their tent revivals. He later attended Mannford and Cleveland schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42). He married Vivian "Carol" Redburn in 1962. Introduced by friends John and Brenda Mahan of Hominy, Lanny asked Carol out for the first time at the Cleveland Drive-In Theater while the guy she was on a date with went to buy popcorn. They made their home in Cleveland, OK. They traveled throughout the United States following Lanny's work as a welder with Plumber and Pipefitters Local Union 344 until 1975 when their daughter Lana Carol was born. In 1977, their son Buddy Ray was born. Lanny worked on the Alaskan pipeline for several years after the birth of Lana and Buddy and other locations such as Hawaii, North Dakota, New York City, and Kalkaska, Michigan. Lanny enjoyed fishing, trotlining, arrowhead collecting, gardening, travel, and more friends than can be counted. His wife Carol said that their two children Lana and Buddy embodied the very best parts of each their parents. Lanny's personality is evident in Buddy's charm and sense of humor, in Lana's love of animals and helping them, in Buddy's work ethic and many friends, in Lana's love of learning especially in her dad's shared interests of anthropology and geology. Lanny's values and appreciations are seen in both Lana and Buddy's political awareness, a proud Democrat and Independent respectively, deep appreciation of culture and foods, a respect for the natural world and particularly the beauty of northeastern Oklahoma, and taking pride in their work and family. Carol also said two Sagittarius should have never married each other, but their children show a couple untied for 60 years by independent thought, autonomy, self-awareness, and love.

Lanny is survived by his Wife, Carol Ingalls; his daughter, Lana Carol Ingalls; son and wife, Buddy Ray Ingalls and Amanda Wilmoth; his brother, Bill Ingalls and a sister, Carol Hamilton

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bobby Dale. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Cleveland Area Pound Pals www.clevleandlandpoundpals.com
