Kay Winifred Ohse 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2012 surrounded by the family she loved. She was born on May 22, 1939 in Oakland, California to Harold Calkins and Violet Francis Clancy Calkins. She was raised and attended school in Concord, California, and worked as head cashier at Payless Drugs in Pleasant Hill, California for many years. In 1985 she moved to Pawnee where she was a cashier at Cheatham’s Grocery Store. On July 12, 1986 she married Verlin Ohse and they made their home in Pawnee. Kay was a gentle lady. She had a heart of gold and was generous and kind to everyone. Her home was always open. She loved Jesus very much, and loved to sing. She sang in her choir and at the local nursing home, while her sister, Helen Day played the piano. She attended the Pawnee First Assembly of God Church, and loved her Sunday School Class. She loved flowers and animals, especially her dog, Rusty. She loved her family and always wanted to be a part of everything. Kay is survived by: Husband:Verlin Ohse, Pawnee, Oklahoma Sister:Ann Lihs, O’Neill, Nebraska Sister-in-law:Evelyn Calkins, Pawnee, Oklahoma Daughters:Becky Briggs & her husband, Tony, Stillwater, Oklahoma Karen Goddard, Pittsburg, California Pamala Ellington & her husband, Bill, Pawnee, Oklahoma Susan Saunders, Pawnee, Oklahoma 5 Children by Marriage: Alta Ferguson, Ada Ohse, Audry Livsey, Verla Ayers and Verlin Ohse Jr. 12 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren Dearly Beloved Friend, Jan Stehr, Pittsburg, California, plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Violet Calkins; her brother, John Calkins; and her sister, Helen Day. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the First Assembly of God Church, Pawnee, Oklahoma with Pastor Brian Wiseman and former Pastor James Eubanks officiating. Interment will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Maramec, Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
