Joyce Robinson Huddleston

Joyce Allene Robinson Huddleston, beloved wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2012 following a short illness surrounded by her family in Enid, Oklahoma. Joyce was 78 years of age. Joyce had enjoyed 53 years of her life in Ponca City. Joyce was born on February 1, 1934 in Blackburn, Oklahoma to Lafe and Ruby Spears Robinson. She grew up on a farm outside of Blackburn and attended school in Blackburn, graduating from Blackburn High School in 1952. It was during high school in Blackburn that she met her future husband, G. E. Huddleston. Joyce and G.E. were married at the Blackburn Baptist Church on Feb. 6, 1953. They established their first home in Winfield, Kan. To this union was born their daughter, Denise. Joyce was a very devoted and loving wife and mother. G.E. passed away on November 19th, 2010. The couple shared 57 years of life together and 50 years on the acreage that she and G.E. developed. They raised their daughter and entertained their grandchildren and great-grandchildren around the horses and on the banks of their pond shared by loyal Canadian geese. The neighborhood atmosphere afforded her many years of close companionship with her close neighbors and friends. Joyce, which her family describes as the "ideal Mother and Grandmother" enjoyed being a part of all her family's activities. Her love of gardening was evident through her beautiful roses and that same love of the soil was passed on to her grandsons and close family. Her favorite times and activities were those spent with her grandsons and great-grandchildren. Her devotion and care of her farm, poultry, and animals has passed down to her great grandchildren. This is evident by her eldest granddaughter's love of her chickens. She played an integral part in the sharing of raising three admiring grandsons who have developed into hard working, loving, and respected young men. Joyce was a homemaker for 10 years before enjoying her professional career as a vice-president for Sooner Life Insurance and U.S. Life Credit Insurance Company. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She was a long-time devoted member of Northeast Baptist Church in Ponca City, OK where she was an active member of the Adult Six Sunday School Class. The members of the class supported each other throughout their lives together. She spent her life collecting many lifelong and cherished friends. Joyce will be greeted in heaven by her husband G.E., infant son Carl Edward, father and mother Lafe and Ruby Robinson, sister Norma Jean Wheeler and numerous other family and friends. Left to carry on her legacy is: daughter, Dr. Denise Coldwater and husband Mike Coldwater of Enid; grandsons and their families, Lafe Coldwater and daughter Cynthia of Enid, Chase Coldwater and wife Morgan and son Braden of Enid, Gage Coldwater and wife Kelly and children, Aurora and Pike of Orange, Texas. She is survived by her sister Linda Kay Kelsey and her husband Glenn of Blackburn, Oklahoma, along with a niece and many nephews, longtime friends Kenneth and Kitty Conley and a lifetime of loving neighbors and friends. Joyce's spirit will live long among all of those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 2 p.m. October 30th, 2012 at Northeast Baptist Church, 2200 North Pecan, Ponca City, OK, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee with graveside following at Riverside Cemetery at Ralston, Okla. Cherished friend Reverend Larry Nigh will officiate the service. Pallbearers to serve her one last time in this life will be Lafe, Chase and Gage Coldwater, Kenneth Conely, Dale Zehr and Bert Huddleston. Honorary pallbearers are Mike, Pike and Braden Coldwater, Glenn Kelsey, Dale Bacon and Kyle Osburn along with the men of Northeast Baptist Adult Six Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered for the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 N Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, OK 74601; NE Baptist Church, 2200 North Pecan, Ponca City, OK 74604.
