Joe Wesley Gritts Joe Wesley Gritts, 64, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home. He was a resident of Tulsa for 38 years. Joe was born in Stilwell, Adair County, Oklahoma to Clifford W. and Billie (Gann) Gritts on August 7, 1949. He married Sharon Kay Tsatoke on August 23, 1969 in Marshfield, Missouri. He was a Technical Designer for 44 years at T. D. Williamson Pipeline Services and was a big Oklahoma University fan. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam conflict between March 29, 1971- April 16, 1972, operating as a Military Policeman and achieved the rank of Specialist 4. He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. He was a member of the American Legion Post 308 in Tulsa and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church. Joe is survived by: his wife, Sharon Gritts of Tulsa, OK; his 3 children: Larissa Gritts, Nannie Sue Gritts and Clifford Ray Gritts, all of Tulsa, OK; 5 Grandchildren: J. D. Gritts, Darrell Gritts, Kitana Gritts, George T. Gritts and Taitam Gritts; 3 Step-Grandchildren: Cadence Williams, Chandler Williams and Rebecca Williams; 4 Brothers: John Gritts and wife, Page, of Denver, CO, Tom Gritts and wife, Gail, of England, United Kingdom, George Gritts and wife, Judy, of Phoenix, AZ and David Gritts of Hominy, OK; his mother, Billie Gritts of Hominy, OK; his daughter-in-law Jami Dennings, his aunt, Joanna Christian and cousin, Becky Houge. Joe was preceded in death by: his father, Clifford Gritts; his son, Danny Joe Gritts and his uncle, Chester Ray Christian. Memorial service was held Friday, July 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Gritts speaking. Burial will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
