Joe Douglas Haines, Sr.

Joe Douglas Haines, Sr., 86 years, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Linwood Village in Cushing, Ok.

Joe was born in Hominy, Ok on July 6, 1929 to John David and Clara Nile (Elliot) Haines. He graduated from Hominy High School and continued on finishing two years of College. He served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard, serving Overseas and in the Korean War, and was ranked as a Master Sargeant.

He was married to Shirley Ann (Lunsford) Haines on January 1, 1954; they were married 53 years. Joe worked in the Oil Industry as a Submersible Pump Engineer.

Joe is survived by: Son, Joe D. Haines, Jr. (M.D.), Daughter, Kay Dunlap, Grandchildren, Cyrus Haines, Avery Haines, Bret Haines, Chase Haines, Samuel Haines, and Kara Dunlap, Great Grandchildren, Wiley Haines, Elliott Haines, Olivia Haines, and Rowan Haines.

He is preceded in death by wife, Shirley Ann Haines.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Mingus officiating. Pallbearers are: Cyrus Haines, Avery Haines, Bret Haines, and Chase Haines. Burial will follow the service at AJ Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Ok.
