Joe Douglas Drummond

Joe Douglas Drummond and Priscilla Louise, his lovely wife of 49 years were taken from this life unexpectedly after a vehicle accident on highway 20, in Osage county, just outside of Hominy OK; on the morning of September 1, 2022. Joe passed that morning and Priscilla passed the next evening September 2, 2022, in St John’s Hospital in Tulsa, OK.

Joe was born November 24, 1948, in Hominy Oklahoma to Jack and Georgia Jean (Ferguson) Drummond Cox. He graduated from Hominy High School in 1967. Joe played the French horn in high school. During the 1970s, Joe ranched with his brother and dad. He graduated from OSU with his Bachelor of Science in 1978. After graduation, he went to work for Dowell Schlumberger as a sales engineer. That position took the family to Midland, Texas, Farmington, New Mexico, Casper, Wyoming, and Mustang, OK. In 1989, he took a position with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board in McAlester. They stayed in McAlester until their kids were grown. They moved back in 2000 to the ranch in Hominy, and he later retired from the state in October 2018.

He enjoyed ranching with his son on the same land that he worked with his dad and brother. He always had to be in the middle of whatever work Matt was doing at the ranch.

He loved being an ESA Husband where he volunteered right alongside Priscilla. He was man of the year a couple of years. Joe founded W/S Environmental with his late friend, Kent Wilkins

Priscilla Louise Dailey Drummond was born September 10, 1954, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Harry Vernon and Dorthy Mae (Evans) Dailey. She graduated Ponca City high school in 1972 where she played the flute in the marching band, along with twirling the baton. She then went to Northern Oklahoma State College where she graduated in 1974 with her Associates of Science degree in nursing. She later received her BSN-health administration from Oklahoma City University in 1994. She graduated with her MHA from NSU.

She was the nurse administrator at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary for 10 years. She spent the last 20 years as an employee health nurse supervisor at various manufacturing companies such as Ford Glass, Kimberly Clark, Spirit AeroSystems and the bus plant.

She was a 50-year member of ESA – Epsilon Kappa – Hominy where she served in numerous leadership roles including state president from 1994-1995.

One of her passions was farm pond fishing on the ranch. She was always competing for the biggest fish with everyone especially her daughter, Melody.

Joe and Priscilla met in March of 1973 in Hominy, and they were married May 19, 1973, in Hominy. When they were young, they loved to dance. They could be seen dancing almost every weekend around Osage county. They also taught country line dance, 2 step, cotton eye joe and waltz. Joe also played the bass guitar in various bands throughout the years. Joe and Priscilla had three children who were the joy of their lives – Melody, Jill, and Matt.

They were avid sports fans. From the beginning of their marriage, they watched sports on TV and also traveled to numerous sporting events around the country. They loved OSU football where they were season ticket holders for years. They took their grandkids every chance they could. When their grandkids started playing ball, they shifted their focus to them. They rarely missed any of their games. When the girls started hitting home runs, Joe started giving them $100 bills for every home run. As soon as the game was over, Joe would have the $100 ready with a big smile on his face. Chance loved to go to the games where he would drive Nana around on her scooter. Hope was just along to take a nap with Pop-pop and send him on his many trips to the concession stand for snacks.

They loved to travel. They have been on too many cruises to count. Their daughter, Jill and family were their favorite cruise partner. Their favorite trip was a family trip with their kids and grandkids to Hawaii in 2013. They also loved Disney where they went for numerous celebrations including their 30th wedding anniversary. They started attending the National Finals Rodeo when it was in Oklahoma City. This tradition continued when it was moved to Las Vegas. They’ve had season tickets and went every year for the last 30+ years.

When their kids were born, they began a tradition of camping at the ranch on Memorial Day Weekend. Their family and friends would come out to enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, and riding ATVs around the ranch. It was one of their favorite weekends of the year. They loved sharing their love of the outdoors with their family and friends. They also loved the animals around their place. They often sat and watched the wildlife from their porch.

Joe and Priscilla were survived by their three children: Melody White (Joel), Ft Collins, CO, Jill Drummond (Dr Robb Brinkley) Tulsa, OK, and Matt Drummond (Heather) Owasso, OK.
