James Kyle Litterell, Jr.

James Kyle Litterell known to his friends and family as Jim, passed from this life on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home in Jennings, Oklahoma at the age 67 years and 8 months.

Jim was born on August 19, 1947, in Tulsa Oklahoma. He was the son of James and Vivian Litterell. Jim was raised in the Tulsa area and received his high school education from Central High School in 1965. He also completed 2 years from Tulsa Community College.

During his early elementary education, Jim met a young lady named Linda. They were childhood friends and later become sweethearts for each other. On April 3, 1965 the two exchanged wedding vows in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Tulsa and raised two children, Vivian and Kyle, residing in the Sand Springs area before moving to Jennings in 1975.

For a short time in the late 1960’s, Jim worked for the Tulsa Police Department.

Jim was also an Iron worker for many years. He was with the Local Union 584 for over 50 years. He worked for Builders Steel Inc. where he retired.



Jim loved watching football and working his cattle spending many hours taking care of them. He also liked watching sporting events, especially his kids and grandkids. Jim didn’t miss any of their games and later becoming the biggest fan of his grandkids.



Jim was member of the First Baptist in Jennings and was very active in the church. He was very active in building the newest addition to the church. Jim was a former Sunday school teacher for many years and enjoyed teaching very much.



Survivors are his two children Kyle and his wife Tonya Litterell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vivian Sue Hinson and her husband Mark of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; three brothers David Litterell of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Milburn Litterell of Claremore, Oklahoma, Virgil Litterell of Verdigris, Oklahoma; two sisters Lois Hicks of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kyla Jones of Verdigris, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Sterling Gramm and her husband Jordan and Shane Litterell, M.J. Hinson. Jim was preceded in death by his father James Kyle Litterell, Sr.; mother Vivian Lucille Litterell (Abbott), wife Linda Sue Litterell



Church services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday April 23, 2015, at the Jennings First Baptist church with Rev. Mark Compton officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
