Gerald Lee Christy Obituary Gerald Lee Christy, age 65 of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away April 5, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gerald was born April 18, 1944 to Fred and Delphia (Fite) Christy in Henryetta, Oklahoma and grew up in Schulter graduating from there. He served in the Army Reserve. Gerald had a Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University in Tahlequah and a Masters Degree from OSU. He served as Hominy School Superintendent for 13 years and worked at Connors Correctional Center as a teacher in the Education Department. Gerald and Carolyn Myles were married on July 8, 1987. Gerald was a member of the Hominy, First Christian Church and served as the Chairman of the Board; and he was a member of the Hominy City Council. He also was on the Cooperative Council of Oklahoma School Administrators, the Oklahoma Association of Scholl Administrators, the American Association of School Administrators, the Oklahoma State School Boards Association, the National School Boards Association, Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials, the National Association of School Business Officials, the Oklahoma Association for Supervision of Curriculum Development, the National Association for Supervision of Curriculum Development. He was also a member of the Oklahoma Association of Federally Impacted Schools, and the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools. The Oklahoma Commission for Educational Leadership, Oklahoma Plant Managers Association, Oklahoma Association for Pupil Transportation, the Oklahoma Rural Organization of Schools and the School Advisory Council. Gerald is survived by his wife of the home- Carolyn and favorite companion Samson ; three daughters- Denise Robinson and husband Rob of Eufaula, Oklahoma; Angela Lovell and husband John of Owasso, Oklahoma; Carrie Holloway and husband Kojack of Hominy, Oklahoma; one son- Dan Cook and wife Michelle of Collinsville, Oklahoma; two brothers- Robert Christy and wife Karen of Lockport, Illinois and George Christy and wife LaDana of Schulter, Oklahoma; one step brother- Alan Been and wife Carol of Henryetta, Oklahoma. Eleven grandchildren- Corey Bartmier, Veronica Loftin, Jessica Bartmier, Lacie Cook, Dylan Cook, Rielly Holloway, Austin Holloway, Hannah and Madison Lovell, Fayth Holloway and Seth Bartmier. One great grandson- Lane Loftin; father in law- Bill Myles of Ketchum, Oklahoma and sister in law- Kathy Davis and husband Ron of Vinita, Oklahoma. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services is planned for Gerald Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hominy High School Old Gym with Rev. George Christy and Rev. Lee Nirschl officiating. Congregational hymn Amazing Grace , and music Aint No Grace and Wish you were Here sang by a group from Southern Sunlight- Randall Christy, Sharla (Christy) Fredrick, David Fredrick, Randi Sue (Christy) Hall and Lynette Christy. Honorary Pall Bearers were Coy Everett, Jerry Quillen, Tex Bayouth, Jack Hudgens, Larry Stuart and Lafe Burnett. Burial will be at Graceland Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. in Owasso, and a Memorial Service at Schulter Baptist Church, Schulter, Oklahoma, April 8, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. Arrangements were made with Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers donate to the Gospel Station Network.
