Frederick E. Gore (Fred), passed away on Saturday, June 13th, at the age of 95.  He was out for his morning walk at home in Brevard, North Carolina, when God called him home unexpectedly. 

Fred was born on December 15, 1924 and grew up in Hominy, Oklahoma.  He joined the Navy at age 17 during World War II.  He was a career Navy man, having moved through the ranks from a Seaman recruit to retirement as an Officer with a rank of Lieutenant after 30 years of service. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Horton Gore and his brothers and sisters.  He is survived by his two children, Diana Gore Middleton and C. Fred Gore.  He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Larissa (Gore) Galloway, Fred N. Gore, Josiah Gore, Carl Middleton and Parker Middleton, and 12 great-grandchildren.  He also is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

After retirement, Fred enjoyed participating in a local bowling league, feeding the hummingbirds and spending time with his family.  He was a member of Highway 29 church of Christ in South Carolina.

Fred was a man who shed the light of Jesus Christ wherever he went and was deeply loved by those who knew him.  He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Hominy, Oklahoma, on Monday, June 22nd, with military honors.

Graveside service will be held at 11:30AM, Monday, June 22, 2020 at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery.
