Fern L. Spencer Obituary Fern L. Spencer age 67, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away April 3, 2010 at her residence. Fern was born September 22, 1942 to James Tedford and Linnie (Mitchell) Tilley in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Fern grew up in Old Prue and Sand Springs, moving to Hominy in 1980. She attended the Prue Schools, was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hominy and involved in the Hominy Senior Citizens Program. Fern and Orvan Franklin Spencer were united in marriage September 9, 1958 and he preceded her in death September 26, 1990. Fern worked for Home Health Care after retiring for Munsingwear, she volunteered at the Nazarene Church, liked to crochet doilies and house shoes, bowl, work puzzles and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Fern is survived by four children- Tammy Spencer of Gentry, Arkansas, Debbie Slead and husband Steven of Wildhorse, Oklahoma, Cathy Gaines and husband Tom of Hominy, Oklahoma and James Spencer and wife Crizabeth of the Philippines; four grandchildren- Cody Slead and wife Lynette, Dusty Gaines, Tyler Gaines and Clarissa Spencer; one great granddaughter- Aubrey Page Slead; six siblings- Dale Tilley, Joyce Standridge, Madge Hamilton, Junior Tilley, Cloice Tilley, Treva Lambert and extended family member- De Huynh. (Pronounced- De (Day) and Huynh (Wynn). Fern was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter- Angela Spencer; seven siblings and daughter in law- Viola Spencer. Funeral Services were Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Carl Brown officiating. Music selections were God on the Mountain , In the Garden , and Amazing Grace. Pall Bearers were Opie Opry, Robbie Jamison, David Metzger, Randy Dildine, Gary Baldwin, Curtis Dickson, Jim Johnson, Jerod Traster and Bobby Traster. Interment was in the A.J. Powell Cemetery with Powell Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
