Ewell Carlton Bass Obituary Ewell Carlton Bass, 87, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away January 16, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ewell was born July 13, 1923 at Muskogee, Oklahoma chosen by Lester Van Buren and Sarah (Cosper) Bass. Ewell married Lavonne Maxine Hackler on December 28, 1943 at Atlantic Field near Hominy, Oklahoma; she preceded him in death July 25, 2006. Ewell was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was raised at Atlantic Field NW of Hominy and lived in this area most of his life, moving to Tulsa in 1971. He had worked for Texaco Petroleum Company as a purchasing coordinator retiring November, 1986. He was a member of the Woodlake Assembly of God Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by 2 sons: Don Bass of Hominy, Oklahoma and Merle Bass of Wister, Oklahoma; 1 daughter: Janis Garcia of Los Altos, California; 4 grandchildren: Doug Bass, Jessica Cummings, Emily Little and husband Jonathan, Ellyn Van Bockel and husband Chris; 3 great grandchildren: Josh Bass, Mikayla Little and Olivia Little. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Lou Garcia officiating. Music selections were How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace . Interment will be in the A.J. Powell Cemetery under the direction of Powell Funeral Home.
