Edna Marian Wood

Edna Marian Wood, longtime resident of Hominy and Cleveland, passed from this life on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the age of 93. Edna was born January 24, 1929, in Dallas, Texas to Ray Leland and Florence (Westmoreland) Baker. She spent her early years in Dallas, and as a teenager, the family moved to Oklahoma City. Through mutual friends, she was introduced to Dale Victor Wood of Hominy, and they were later married at Hominy Lake in the 1960’s. Making their home in Cleveland, Edna worked as a cook for the Hickory House in Cleveland making pies, soups and salads; a job she held for 30 plus years. Her husband Dale passed away in May of 2004. In her spare time, Edna enjoyed drawing outdoor pictures, dancing making clothing for the grandchildren and collecting Dolls of all kinds. Dale and Edna would take the grandkids to the “Round Hole” in Hominy to fish and camp on weekends. When making her pies, she always made them from scratch. Edna enjoyed traveling, having gone on three cruises and trips to Hawaii and Jamacia. She also enjoyed watching old westerns. Her pets were Baby Doll, Bear and Tess. Her family stated that “Edna was one of the best people there was to have around, she would give you the shirt off her back if she thought it would help”.

Carolyn Sue Irick of Luther, OK; a sister Olive Shaw of Lubbock, TX; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, eleven great, great grandchildren and one great, great, great grandchild – Carson Johnson.
