Charles Willard Biggs

Charles Willard Biggs, 68 years, of Prue, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Hillcrest Heart Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a long-time Prue resident.

Charles was born on September 1, 1948 to Willard Ervin and Anna Elizabeth (Terry) Biggs in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on his mother's birthday and it was also Labor Day, so his birthday was always a big celebration. Charles married Alma Horton in 1969 and he spent 6 years in the Army National Guard. Charles graduated from Bixby High School and also earned a Master's Degree in School Administration. Charles was a teacher and the boys & girls basketball coach at Prue High School in Prue for 30 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Oklahoma Education Association, Oklahoma Coaches Association and National Education Association.

Charles is survived by: his wife, Alma, of the home in Prue, OK; 2 sons: Stephen Biggs and his wife, Karen, of Sand Springs, OK, and Jerry Biggs of Prue, OK; 5 grandchildren: Illiana, Andrew, Nicholas, Zetta and Nova; 1 brother, Clifton Biggs and his wife, Donna; 1 sister: Joyce Wilson and her husband, William, both of Strang, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Charles is preceded in death by: his parents and 1 brother, Kevin.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Shellenbarger Free Will Baptist Church in Bixby, Oklahoma with the Pastor Ronald Meadows officiating. Pallbearers were: Andrew Biggs, Nicholas Biggs, Clifton Biggs, Ronnie Smith, Craig Newburn, Michael Terrell, Scott Eddings and Adam Owens. Honorary Pallbearers were: Brendon Smith, Gary Burgess, Jeremy Horton, Gerald Jackson and Rex Wood. Musical selections were: "The Wayfaring Stranger" and "The Garden" performed by Mark Cypert. Burial followed the services at the Bixby Cemetery.
