Cecil Frank Rouwalk, 65 years, of Las Vegas, Nevada, has passed away at his home in Nevada. He was born and raised in Hominy, Oklahoma.

Cecil was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on February 14, 1951 to Cecil and Gladys Belle (Shunkamolah) Rouwalk. He attended Hominy Public Schools and Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA), ultimately graduating from Hominy High School. He furthered his education at Northeastern State University, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Oklahoma State University. He also received a Certificate in Cosmetology.

Cecil was a tribal member of the Pawnee Nation (Chaui Band) and the Osage Nation (Eagle Clan). Cecil participated in the "In-Lon-Sch-Ka" dances in the Hominy District beginning at a very young age. He had the honor of being selected as a tail dancer for the late Drum Keeper, Amos Shadlow, Jr.

Cecil played saxophone and clarinet and was in the band at Hominy High School and Oklahoma Military Academy. He was well known to make band trips very enjoyable with always laughing and smiling and all his jokes. Cecil also loved to dance, all kinds, from disco to jitterbug. He won dance contests and he appeared on "The Dance Party" show on KOTV-Tulsa, but what he really wanted was to appear on "American Bandstand."

Cecil is survived by: 2 sisters: Margaret Rouwalk and Carol Rouwalk; 2 nephews: Nathaniel Eppinette and Sonny Rouwalk; and his very dear friends: Chrissie and Cha Fairweather as well as many great-nieces and nephews and many, many friends and family.

Cecil is preceded in death by: his parents and his grandparents; Margaret and Joseph Shunkamolah.

The memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Hominy, Oklahoma, with Harry Roy Red Eagle and Everett Waller speaking. Also, Marilyn McGee will sing "In the Garden".
