Billy Jack Hensley Obituary Billy (Bill) Jack Hensley, 82 of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away on June 23, 2010 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was born on March 9, 1928 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to George Washington and Beula Luther (Gill) Hensley. Bill was the 4th child of 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He was a graduate of Wewoka High School in 1946. Bill joined the 45th Inf. Division Thunderbirds National Guard in 1950. He became Sergeant 1st Class and spent 1 tour of duty in the Korean War. He commanded a battery of 105 m/m Howser guns during this time. Bill married Eunice Iveline Jackson on September 28, 1953. Bill went to work for a cable-tool oil drilling rig. Soon he was promoted from rig hand to driller. On the first day of drilling, April 21 working near Okema, Oklahoma he had to pull a double shift of 16 hours. When returning from the job site to Wewoka, Oklahoma the next morning several people on Main Street congratulated Bill on his new son. Communication in the oil patch wasnt good back in 1954. In 1957 Bill went to work for a different oil field company, McCullough Tool. This was a huge worldwide company that specialized in oil field Logging and Perforating. McCullough Tool had many large trucks and equipment that worked out of a home base. He was hired to be their shop manager. Bill later worked for API Perforators for 14 years. Before retirement, Bill went into business with his two sons and they owned and operated Sooner Pride Services for 18 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, reading, computers and watching T.V. Bill is survived by his wife Eunice of the home, two sons- Larry Hensley and wife Linda; Kent Hensley and wife Sara all of Hominy; four grandchildren- Joe, Justin, Skyler and Seth; two great grandchildren- Abby and Zeke; two brothers- Robert and Lin Hensley both of Wewoka; two sisters- Shirley Tucker of Stillwater and Jaunita Summers of Collinsville. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- George Hensley Jr. and Noble Hensley. Funeral services for Bill were held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Hominy, Oklahoma with Pastor Mark Formby officiating. Congregational hymns for the service were Amazing Grace and In the Garden with Theresa Cowan as the pianist. Casket bearers were Skyler Hensley, Joe Hensley, Justin Hensley, Seth Hensley, Channing Tardiff and Steve Ducker. Honorary casket bearer was Mitch Wallace. Military services were by the Harold Bigheart Smalley Post 198 Pawhuska and the Osage Marine Detachment. Interment was in the A.J. Powell Cemetery under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma.
