Billy Gene Fannin, resident of Reno, Nevada, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the age of 93.

Billy was born February 5, 1929, in Frederick, Oklahoma to William Warren and Juanita (Towers) Fannin. He grew up with his brother, Wilbur and sister Wanda in Marlin TX. Billy started school early at five years old in Reagan, TX where he rode a horse to school. Billy graduated from Marlin High School earlier than most at the age of sixteen. When Billy wasn't at school, he was at home helping around the family farm.

After school Billy went to work as a laborer in the Houston Shipyards. He later switched to working in the Gas and Oil Industry. Billy got a job as a dispatcher in Hominy for Sinclair Pipeline. While working in Hominy he met Virgie McEntire who worked at the restaurant at the Hominy Hotel. Virgie introduced Billy to her daughter, June. They met and fell in love. Billy married June McEntire on September 29, 1950, in Hominy, OK. After they were married, Billy went to work for Southern Pacific Pipeline, where he worked for 43 years, eventually retiring as the Manager over the Western Region.

Billy and June had three girls born into their family: Brenda, Sheryla and Gayla. Billy worked hard to advance his career, which meant lots of relocating. He moved his family to Kansas, California, Arizona, Oregan and Texas. Billy and June traveled to 46 states in the continental US except for the Dakotas. They also took several trips abroad. They went to Europe several times, South America, and Australia. The Fannin's loved to go to family reunion and events. They also enjoyed boating and they were members of several different dance clubs, which was a major enjoyment for their life.

Billy and June were married for 68 years, until she passed in 2018. As a couple they danced all the time. The whole place would stop dancing to watch them. They both loved the old classic country music. They had a hard work ethic, but they played just as hard. Billy was always kind to all and very quick witted. Billy was involved in the Elk's Club for 48 years, also the Rotary Club and was president of Saraband Dance Club. Billy's most recent saying to everyone was, "What a revoltin development this is," and then he would roll his eyes.

Billy lived to 93 years old and until recently he was in excellent health, often visiting Virginia City to listen to one of his favorite bands David John and the Comstock Cowboys.

Billy is survived by his three daughters; Brenda Crum, Sheryla Condon, Gayla Fannin; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great, great granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his wife, June, his parents, his brother and sister.
