Betty Louise Abington

Betty Louise Johnson Abington was transitioned from this life to everlasting life on Friday, August 2, 2013 in Stillwater Oklahoma. She was born on October 29, 1940 in Pawnee Oklahoma the 11th of 13 children to the late William “Smokey” Johnson, and Nolia Lee Johnson. She attended Lincoln School in her earlier years, and then graduated from Pawnee High School with the Class of 1958 where she was active in band and pep club. On June 10, 1957 she married her high school sweetheart, Abraham Abington. To this union nine children were born. She very much enjoyed her large family and was the glue that held her family together, arranging church functions, family reunions, and dinners. Her love for her family and friends was always evident by her present smile, loud voice and the desire to take care of you or help you out. Betty’s dress attire and hats were very important to her, and those who knew her can attest how well she was always dressed no matter the occasion. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who not only loved and supported her own children, but welcomed and cared for all children with a loving spirit. She attended Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, Lawson Temple Church of God in Christ, and St. James Church of God in Christ where she was active in being church mother, YWCC, purity class, and sunshine band. She also loved testifying to the saints and telling them about the goodness of the Lord. Betty worked over twenty years for the United Community Action Program in Pawnee and Ponca City Oklahoma as a project coordinator and various departments in the program. She leaves to cherish in her memory her two sons, Kelvin Abington of Pawnee; Greg Abington of Enid; and daughter, Treva Roland and her husband Marvin of Enid Oklahoma. Her grandchildren, LuQuitia Meche and her husband Darnelle, LaTicia Roland, Darrin Williams, Ebony Abington, Antionette Giles and her husband, Alvin, Abraham Abington, Emmanuel Abington, Jaleesa Abington, Brandon Abington, Raven Abington, Kristen Abington, Destiny Abington, Treasure Abington, and Alyiha Abington. Great grandchildren, Malachi, Jaquelyn, Jeremiah, Layla, and Adaeze. Brothers, Alvin Johnson and his wife, Jean, Henry Lee Johnson, and his wife Nora, and Sister Bobbi Pitts.
