Anola Faye Cable

Anola Faye (Bowman) Cable Anola Faye (Bowman) Cable, 94 years, died peacefully on May 2, 2015 at Highland Park Nursing Home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was born on December 30, 1920 in Hamilton, Ohio to Grant and Laura (Brock) Bowman and was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Eschol and Jalia Gabbard. Anola enjoyed cooking and had a lot of practice cooking for four hungry sons and for large family gatherings during holidays. She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics and painting. She made many beautiful things over the years that will be treasured by her family. She was an avid reader and loved flowers, especially peonies. Her son, Nevyle, has many of her transplanted peonies in his yard in Okmulgee that are in full bloom in her honor. Hominy, Oklahoma is where she called home. In addition to raising her four sons there, she also worked at Munsingwear for many years. Anola was a kind and gentle woman with a big heart and equally big sense of humor. She enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends at Plantation House where she lived in Okmulgee after leaving Hominy. She was a fierce competitor but polite about it! Anola taught her boys "to do the right thing" and that's the way she lived her own life. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother and friend. She is survived by 2 sons, Grant Cable and his wife Kathy, Nevyle Cable and his wife Carol; 2 sisters, Gertrude Hart and Louise McCusker; 12 grandchildren, Retha Cable, Gilbert Cable, Angela Gibson, Matthew Cable, Toni Guinn, Melody Freeman, Christy Owens, Steve Cable, Joshua Cable, Jared Cable, Melissa Meyers, and Amanda Meyers; many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Anola was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Cable; sister, Virginia Sauer; 2 sons, Eschol Cable and Bill Cable. Her family would like to publicly acknowledge the caring staff at Plantation House, Highland Park Manor and Heritage Hospice, all in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, for the loving care extended to Anola over the past 12 years. Anola was a member of the First Baptist Church, 202 South Price, Hominy, Oklahoma, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 7, 2015. Pallbearers are Matthew Cable, Joshua Cable, Jared Cable, John Gibson, Dillon Owens, Derek Owens and Steve Cable. Arrangements are through Powell Funeral Home, 223 N. Wood Ave, Hominy, Oklahoma 74035. Flowers are welcome and will be accepted at Powell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Okmulgee Public Library, 218 S.
