Alvin Dale Blackwell

Alvin Dale Blackwell, 90 years, of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, cowboy, fisherman, coon hunter, oilman, but most of a Man of God. Alvin loved more than anything to go to church and sing. Alvin was born on August 6, 1928 at a farm near Hominy, Oklahoma to Robert Franklin and Grace Gay (Pierce) Blackwell. He was raised in the Hominy area, attending school at the Sunset School House. He worked on the Drummond Ranch as a teenager and after his marriage to Nadine Chambers on October 9, 1948. Alvin started working in the oil patch in his twenties and retired from Pringle Operating Company near Avant, Oklahoma and helped found and establish several area churches.

His ministry was to be a Worship Leader. He loved to sing. He could teach a lesson without saying anything; just by his example. His joy of being a Christian was on his face as in his heart. Known as the "Candy Man", he always had a smile and a red hot candy to "sweeten you up". His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family for holidays, especially Christmas, and his famous "fish fry meals".

Alvin is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Nadine Chambers Blackwell; his children: Tom and Gloria Blackwell of Owasso, OK, Virginia and Herb Carroll of Bartlesville, OK, Marilyn and Tom Alltop of Barnsdall, OK, Tim and Evie Blackwell of Bartlesville, OK and Lori and John Tisdale of Bartlesville, OK. He also has one sister: Noma Blackwell Chambers; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Alvin was preceded in death by: his parents, his infant son, Jerry Dale, and 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

The funeral service was 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the First Assembly of God in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, with the Pastor Jason Byers and the Reverend Carroll Parnell officiating.
